The Church of the Transfiguration of Jesus

Wooden, over 200 years old church in the centre of Haapajärvi.

The altarpiece, which presents the transfiguration of Jesus, is from the year 1886. The painting was made by Professor Adolf von Becker (1831-1909).

Olkkola’s village church

Olkkola’s village church is located a bit over 10 kilometers away from the centre of Haapajärvi. It was originally constructed to be a Laestadian Chapel in the 1920’s. The graveyard surrounding the Chapel passed into the congregation’s ownership in 1948. The same was done to the building in 1960.

Samuel’s church

Samuel’s church is a church the size of a playhouse made for children. It was built in the yard of the vicarage of Laurikkala in 2009.
