In the area where Hautaperä Reservoir is located, there used to be over a dozen homesteads. Construction of the reservoir began in 1971 and took about five years. The construction employed hundreds of men and dozens of machines and transport vehicles.
The shoreline of the reservoir is 20 km long, and its water surface area is approximately 7.6 square kilometers.
Hautaperä Reservoir now features a high-quality sandy beach with a gradual slope. There is also a lean-to by the shore where you can enjoy your snacks comfortably during a swimming excursion!
