Located just over 10 kilometers from the center of Haapajärvi is the River Lohijoki with its rapids: Tynnyrikoski, Onnelankoski, and Pitkäkoski. This magnificent Natura area is a worthwhile destination for outdoor activities.
The Lohijoki Rapids area is a nature reserve, and fishing in the Lohijoki River is prohibited. Small forest paths run on both sides of the river, some of which can be steep.
You can reach the site by car to the Pitkäkangas outdoor trail parking lot. During the winter, the road leading directly to Tynnyrikoski is not plowed. At the Pitkänkangas skiing and exercise trail parking lot, there is a grill hut and a lodge for the reservist organization.
