The River Center of Siiponkoski

A Scenic place to travel to.

The River Center of Siiponkosi is located in the scenic Siiponkoski village, about four kilometers from the centre of Haapajärvi.

The school of Siiponkoski is a village school closed in 1999. The school facilities are now rented for different events. There is a camping site, cottages, a smoke sauna, and a lean-to in the vicinity.

The environment of Siiponkoski offers excellent chances for going hiking. Isosaari of Siiponkoski can be accessed directly from the schoolyard. The Isosaari area is a great hiking area also preferred by the locals.

The easy-to-access nature trails, gorgeous hanging bridges, a bird-watching tower, and campfire places call you to enjoy the beautiful nature of the area. A canoe trip around the island is also an experience beyond compare. Moreover, the area has great biking conditions, for instance, the Kortejärvi round of 8 kilometers.

The area is divided by the Kalajoki River, which makes the area great for birdwatching in the spring and fall.
