Beautiful Rose Garden is located at the intersection of Reisjärventie and Puistokatu.

The rose garden, situated next to the Veterans’ Park, originated from the idea of a local gardening enthusiast, Terttu Suorsa.

With the positive support from Haapajärvi City, the project was planned in 2005. The curved shapes of the rose beds drew inspiration, among other things, from the curved stairs of the cannon platform in the nearby Veterans’ Park.

Implementation began in the spring of 2006 under Suorsa’s guidance, in collaboration with Haapajärven Viherpeukalot.

The city provided soil, fertilizer, bark mulch, name signs, and an arched gate for construction.

The opening ceremony took place in August 2007.

As a donation, 76 shrub roses were contributed by individuals and nurseries, including 26 from Suorsa. The roses in the park are varieties that thrive in hardiness zones IV-V.

Maintenance of the Rose Garden is a collaborative effort: Haapajärven Viherpeukalot takes care of the roses, and Haapajärvi City tends to the lawns.
